How does a 3d pen work?| And how to use it?

A 3d pen is a pen that helps us to print our desired 3D object. You can call it a portable 3d printer. So today in this blog we will know how a 3D pen works? And lots of different facts and logic in this techbinarycode blog.

How to use a 3d pen?

Using a 3d pen is very super easy and simple. You don't need much technical knowledge rather you need a creative mind and heart to think in a limitless way and draw in the air. Yes, logically you can say you are drawing in air. 1st you will need a flat surface to draw from there you can give height to your awesome object. Follow some steps down and you will be able to set up your 3d pen.

How to set up a 3d pen?

  1. 1st step see in the back of your 3d pen you will see there are 2 holes.
  2. The big one is for AC to DC power supply. Another one is for PLA filament or for any type of plastic that can be used but most probably it will be pla filament type.
  3. See in the box manual of the 3d printing pen you will find your PLA filament size (Ex:1.75mm).
  4. Now connect your power supply to a 3d printing pen.
  5. Then wait for some time and see on your digital screen the number should rise and reach the minimum set by your brand that you have purchased.
  6. Then in another hole or PLA filament hole insert your desired colored plastic filament.
  7. Then after few minutes, your abs filament will reach the melting point. {abs full form is acrylonitrile butadiene styrene” }
  8. Now you can see from your 3d pen nozzle nice blub of melted plastic will come out.

How to print 3d object?

To print 3d objects using 3d pen is super easy. You just need your self-interest and creativity and also a stable hand. If you don’t have such requirements then don’t worry dear my lovely readers you can see tutorials of 3d pens on the internet or you can download 3d pen templates and draw over them and just assemble them with your glue gun. In this way, you can start your 3d pen printing career. Printed object online/offline shop will be a new and also a great business idea.

What is the meaning of abs(Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene)?

Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) (chemical formula (C8H8) x · (C4H6) y · (C3H3N) z) is a standard thermoplastic polymer. The temperature of its glass is about 105 ° C (221 ° F). [failed confirmation] ABS is amorphous and therefore has no real melting point.

ABS is a terpolymer made of polymerizing styrene and acrylonitrile in the presence of polybutadiene. Dosages can vary from 15% to 35% acrylonitrile, 5% to 30% butadiene and 40% to 60% styrene. The result is a long series of polybutadiene criss-crossed with short poly chains (styrene-co-acrylonitrile).

Nitrile groups from neighboring chains, being polar, attract and bind chains together, making ABS stronger than pure polystyrene. Acrylonitrile also contributes to chemical resistance, fatigue resistance, stiffness, and durability, while increasing the temperature of the lower extremities.

The styrene gives the plastic a smooth, impervious surface, as well as stiffness, durability, and ease of processing. Polybutadiene, a rubber substance, provides strength and durability at low temperatures, at a price of resistance to heat and durability.

For most applications, ABS can be used between -20 and 80 ° C (-4 and 176 ° F), as its mechanical properties vary in temperature. The features are made of rubber reinforcement, where fine elastomer particles are distributed throughout the solid matrix.

What is a Glue gun?

A Glue gun is a gun that can join 2 broken pieces of an object by melting plastic inside the gun. The glue gun is also known as a Hot melt adhesive (HMA), is a thermoplastic adhesive that is often marketed as a cylindrical solid rod of various diameters designed to be used using a hot glue gun.

The gun uses a continuous heat exchanger to dissolve the plastic glue, which the user pierces with a gun or mechanical trigger gun, or by direct pressure of the finger. The wax, which is then released through a hot tube, is hot enough to burn even the skin of the blister(So be careful). The glue sticks to the heat, and it hardens for a few seconds to a minute. Hot melters can be used for dipping or spraying, and are popular with hobbyists and both glue makers and as an inexpensive alternative to throwing resin making.

In industrial applications of glue gun, soluble hot adhesives provide a few advantages over adhesive-based adhesives. Flexible organic chemicals are reduced or eliminated, and the drying or healing action is eliminated. Soluble adhesives are healthy on a long shelf and can usually be disposed of without any precautionary measures. Other disadvantages include hot substrate load, reduced use of resistant substrates at high temperatures, and loss of bond strength at high temperatures until the adhesion melts.

This can be reduced by using an adhesive that works after the stiffness continues to be treated e.g., with moisture (e.g., active urethanes and silicones), or treated with ultraviolet radiation. Some HMAs may be resistant to chemical and weather attacks. HMAs do not lose weight during tightening; soluble adhesives can lose up to 50-70% of the layer size during drying. I hope this is enough to understand about Glue guns.

How much do 3D pens cost?

Now let us come to the main point what is the price of a 3D pen. The price of a 3D pen starts from $12/Rs 780 to - max $100/ Rs 7000 depending on the company from which you are buying. In the market, there is basically 3 range of pen price available. 1st one cheap one, 2nd one medium price one and last high cost one.

It may depend on your budget which one you will purchase. In my suggestion, you can go for a cheap one also but you must see from which brand you are buying and also you must see if the brand is giving you a warranty or not. For medium budget and high budget one, there is no such problem. But you must see a warranty and a good brand. A good brand 3d pen will provide you best value for each penny of your money.
